Fourth Time's The Charm: The story of this blog

As a digital native, I used to attempt to create blogs many times in my youth. Back in 2007, I tried to use Blogger to keep a diary, somehow thinking that having one online as opposed to written, I would be more inclined to keep up with it. I was wrong. In 2010, I made a blog with my friend, where we planned to each have our own corners to write about whatever interested us--DIY beauty tips, music, etc. We dreamed of being internet personalities à la iCarly. That dream lasted a week. Lastly, in 2011, I had a phase where I wanted to pursue photography. I imported all my "artsy" pictures from a recent trip to New York City and planned to post them to my blog one at a time and write a few words about why I took the picture and why I liked it. In keeping with the pattern of failure, that blog lasted about a week as well.
While making this blog, my mind frequently wandered back to those three failed projects. Of course, part of the reason they failed was because I was young, and I didn't have the time or the motivation to keep up a blog when school should have been my number one priority. Now that keeping a blog is a requirement for this Digital Media and Culture class, the stakes are different. I can't afford to let this blog die (at least not for a few months).
Creating this blog was quite an adventure for me. I created accounts on various web hosting sites, like WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix. I consider myself a mildly tech-savvy person, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to design a website to my taste on WordPress and Squarespace. I settled on Wix because it was easier for me to figure out how to manipulate the design and layout of my website to suit my personal style. From there, I had to decide what I wanted to blog about. One of my biggest hobbies is cooking and baking, and now that I live in an apartment with a kitchen, I can cook whenever I like. I hope to turn this blog into a food blog, documenting my experiences cooking, and keeping track of my favorite recipes and notes so I can refer back to them later.
I'm glad that this class has given me a fourth chance at keeping a blog, and has provided me with motivation for doing so. My only goal in this project is to turn this blog into something I can hold on to long term, and potentially turn into a hobby.
