Two months into this project and I like how my blog is turning out. It's therapeutic to have an outlet to document your thoughts and ideas (even if it is just for a grade, which I know I say a lot). Recently I found out that I'd be studying abroad in Brighton, England next semester, so I'm looking into the prospect of turning this blog into a space to document that experience if I find the time.
Now I'll address the elephant in the room. This blog looks like a completely different website! Here's what went down:
New Theme
I was getting kind of tired of the old layout of my blog because it felt a little boring and maybe too minimalistic. Unfortunately, on Wix the only way to change the theme is to switch to ADI. The only way to switch to ADI is to make a new website entirely. So that's what I did. I filled out their questionnaire, and went through their lengthy tutorial to end up with this. I had to delete the old website, and use the old domain on this site so old links will redirect here.
Overall, I'm really happy with the new layout of the website. Immediately, you're greeted by a cute goldfish, and you can see my bio if you scroll down. The actual blog page is more organized, and you will see all the elements of a traditional blog: recent posts, tags, and the archive. This new layout makes more sense to me, and it fills up more empty space without looking too busy.
Goodbye "Social" Page
I rethought the incorporation of a "Social" page and ultimately deleted it because I thought it was unnecessary. It served no purpose except to take up space. If I add another page, I want it to be for a good reason. If any visitor to this website is desperate to see my Instagram feed, they can click the Instagram logo on the menu bar and be redirected to the website.
That's all for now! Happy scrolling!
